What!? - King Kong Reviews
Are you guys on Peter Jackson's payroll or something!? This movie was WAY too long and at times obnoxiously hokie. By the second hour I was ready to leave and forgo the havoc in New York. Had someone exerted a little self control in the editting room this movie COULD have been good. The ONLY thing that didn't appear in the movie was how they got King King on the ship which is shocking because I'm suprised Peter Jackson didn't catalogue each character going to the bathroom during the voyage, with all the film he wasted.
Jack Black played the character he's played in all his movies, which didn't work well for this. The performance was neither dramatic nor comedic, just akward. The dinosaur scenes (outside of the T Rexes)should have been cut. Jurassic Park, back in '93 looked MUCH more believable. The stampede scene made me sick to my stomach at how fake it looked, beyond the mechanics being unbelievable. Humans with a 5 foot stride outrun a herd of brontosaurus with a 20 foot stride?
I know some fanboys are going to bash me for this harsh review but before you write me off as a total cynic I do have a few good things to say: The cgi of King Kong, the ape looked amazing. 1920 era New York looked amazing. The characters Ann and Jack were played well. I'm not afraid to give credit where credit is due but editting and direction ruined this movie for me.
